Information
about the Cottage and the Locality
April
Cottage, 2 Providence Lane, Rothbury, Northumberland
Outside
The
parking space for the cottage is directly opposite the house and
is the second space from the left. It is part of the freehold of
the cottage so you are fully entitled to the space but please use
the orange permit provided so others know you are authorised to
park there. Sometimes you may need to park in an adjoining space.
However, if you have more than one vehicle with you only park one
in the car park as there is only one designated space for the cottage.
There is plenty of other parking on the main street. Please leave
the parking permit in the cottage on your departure.
Please put your
rubbish into the black plastic bags provided under the sink, tie
securely and put in the dustbin in the right hand compartment at
the back of the parking space. We remove the rubbish at the end
of your stay or weekly if you are staying longer.
In dry spells
or if you think they look dry please water the window boxes.
Inside
Please
make yourself at home and we hope you enjoy your stay but we would
ask that you don't go upstairs in outdoor shoes and for the comfort
of future guests that you don't smoke in the house.
Please feel
free to use the info file while you are at the cottage but if you
could return literature or replace it we would be grateful.
Central Heating
Boiler is located in the boot and coats cupboard by the front door.
It is a combi boiler and during the summer is set to hot water on
demand. However if you feel cold of an evening you can select the
heating and water setting. The instructions for the combi boiler
(which is fairly straight-forward) are on top of the boiler. The
house heats up very quickly but please remember to put the boiler
back onto water only when you have got the temperature to what you
require.
The washing
machine is a washer/dryer. It is easy to use but if you are using
the dryer please do not try and dry the whole load at once for one
thing you won't get on very well and for another you'll break the
machine!
The dishwasher
is fairly self explanatory and detergent tablets are under the sink.
Please don't put wooden utensils or black handled utensils and knives
in the dishwasher. For economy it is probably best to run the washer
only when full.
The television
channel for the video is Channel 8 or 9.
Please only
put toilet paper down the toilet and use the bin provided in the
bathroom for sanitary products
If you have
a breakage whilst staying at the cottage, rather than worry about
trying to replace the article yourselves we are quite happy for
you to leave what you estimate to be the replacement value before
you leave the cottage.
On leaving the
property please be ready to vacate by 10 am so that we can turn
the house round for the next guests. If no-one has arrived at the
cottage by the time you are ready to leave please lock up and post
the key back through the letter box.
There is a fire
safety procedure and the cottage is fitted with smoke alarms with
a dry powder extinguisher in the kitchen. Please act sensibly and
switch off appliances before retiring for the night or going out
in the day. There is a fire station in Rothbury so in the event
that you have to dial 999 assistance should be fairly swift!
