April Cottage
is an attractive stone built terraced cottage close to the heart of Rothbury in North Northumberland at the gateway to Northumberland National Park.

The cottage is a recent conversion to a very high standard. At ground floor level it offers a beamed living/dining room with feature fireplace, television / DVD, video and CD player off which there is a fully fitted kitchen with washer/dryer, dishwasher, fridge, cooker and microwave. Upstairs there are two double bedrooms with cupboard space and beamed ceilings.

The bathroom has both a bath and shower. Opposite the cottage there is a small parking court and the cottage has its own parking space and bin store. A cot is available on request. Guide dogs are welcome but no other pets and guests are asked not to smoke.

Rothbury is a lovely little town nestling on the banks of the River Coquet below the Simonside Hills in a tranquil part of North Northumberland. The High Street is a 100 yards from the cottage with all its shops and facilities.

General food shopping is well provided for with local butchers, bakers, greengrocers and a deli as well as a large Coop. Rothbury also has a selection of gift and speciality shops, a pharmacy and a library.

There is a variety of pubs serving food and cafes within Rothbury and a selection of restaurants and takeaways in Alnwick and Morpeth about 20 minutes drive from the cottage.

Things to see and do

Rothbury has its own 18 hole golf course, swimming pool and health suite. The town is a superb centre for walking and cycling in the Northumberland National Park and the Cheviots. Cycle Hire is available from Tomlinson's on Bridge Street who have a range of bikes (01669) 621979
Pony trekking, equestrian centres and fishing are also close at hand. Cragside, Lord Armstrong’s splendid Victorian mansion lying in extensive grounds is close by. The house, run by the National Trust is well worth a visit.

Alnwick and its now famous Garden and Castle are only a 20 minute drive from the cottage through some of the best scenery in Northhumberland.

The fabulous Northumberland coast and its beaches are easily accessible from the cottage and Hexham and Hadrian’s Wall are a short drive to the south.

How to get to the cottage

From the South
Follow the A1 to the northern Morpeth exit and look for signs for A697 Coldstream and take this exit. After about 7 miles turn off left at Weldon Bridge on the B 6344 signed for Rothbury.

From the North
Follow the A68 south from Edinburgh and the A697 south from Coldstream. Rothbury is signed off to the left on the B6341 about 30 miles south of Coldstream.

On arrival in Rothbury follow the main street into the centre of the town and just after Bridge Street on your left look for Providence Lane on your right. April Cottage is about 100 yards up on the right hand side – parking on left.
